Rematch with Mooretown
Coach Matt's return to the bench was rewarded with solid team play and the W , as the South Kent Blenheim Chev Lightning doubled up Mooretown Black
The team was fired up for the rematch from last sunday's 7-5 loss. Jonny Hockey would opening the scoring with Romano and Larkin picking up assist. Late in the first period Romano would bury a Liam pass with Nate grabbing the second assist. After the first period Isaac "Brick Wall" Johnston would keep Mooretown off the score sheet. Second period was back and forth, both teams scoring 3 goals, Worker of the Game Dryden DeCook would bury his first with the team on a nice passing play from Jackson and newly acquired Parker picking up the other assist. Romano would dance along the ice and score with Ryley and Squigs picking up the helpers. Parker "Golden Jersey" Collins would score his first of the season with DeCook and Kalp picking up the helpers. With the team up 5-3 after the second, they bought into coach Matt's system and killed a few big penalties off and scored 6 goals, i mean 5 goals to round out the scoring. Romano would score 3 more in the 3rd period, assist went to Davies, Captain O'Dog(2), Jackson, Ryley and Jonny. Ryley would also score 2 in the 3rd, assist going to Jackson, Darric(2) Isaac. Jackson would go down on a breakaway and pulled the back hand/fore hand deke and hit the inside bar, the ref pointed a goal but with the puck coming out as fast as it went in they waved it off. Shut down pairing of Beast and Squigs did their job tonight and kept the attacking forwards to the outside, in doing this Ryley picked up 2 penalties and Squigs took 1 during the 3rd period. Solid effort by all, and the team looks to keep it going tomorrow when they invite Petrolia Oilers in for a Home and Home series Sunday in Ridgetown, Monday in Petrolia.
