Double Lightning Strike
No one was really sure what to expect in Sundays matinee game of Atom Lightning vs Lightning. The Sobeys Lightning team is known for their balanced offence while the Postma Lightning team is known for their strong defence and goaltending.

#9 Owen Brown sets up for a point shot.

But the Postma Lightning showed Saturday night that they have some pretty good offence of their own with a come from behind 7-6 win over the Southwest Bullets.
Each team was pushing hard in the opening period but is was the Sobeys Lightning line of #10 Colin Day, #8 Brady Pook and # 12 Danielle Leque that scored the first goal at 8:30.  After that the game tighted up and both teams began checking harder, leaving very little room for offence. Even when one of the teams managed a shot on net the goaltending of #1 Lucas Vidler and #29 Dani Betterly kept the game close.
The game stayed that way until the 3:56 mark of the second period when Postma Lightning #7 Sam Knowler sprung # 16 Jacob Hamilton in all alone were he beat Betterly short side making it a 1-1 game.
It was almost like the tying goal charged up the Sobeys Lightning team because 35 seconds later #4 Camden Blackburn while under serious pressure from Postma’s #10 Dennis Warwick made a great play getting the puck out to the wide open #3 Vincent Vaughan who beat Postma’s goalie #1 Lucas Vidler blocker side giving Sobeys the lead once again.
Sobeys #10 Colin Day scored his second goal of the game at 9:48 of the third while in the middle of a line change and #3 Vincent Vaughan and #2 Paiton Desangher got the assists. Postma’s #4 Minnie Cooper displayed his fearless character when he stood his ground against one of the Sobeys  Lightning bigger boys after he tried to knock the puck free from Postma Lightnings goalie # 1 Lucas Vidler and eventually the teams traded penalties with Sobey’s #8 Brady Pook getting 2 minutes for Body Contact at 8:44 and Postma’s #17 Trenton Decook getting 2 minutes for body contact at the 6:05 mark.
Player of the game: #11 Carter Gates for his outstanding play at both ends of the ice.
Shots on goal for the game: Sobeys Lightning 27,  Postma Lightning 12
Final Score: Sobeys Lightning 3,  Postma Lightning 1
