Penalty Filled Friday
Last Friday night seen a rematch between your Sobeys Lightning and the Postma Lightning of the Atom Local league.  I would never have predicted the end result.   When the players arrived to the rink both teams could be seen hanging out together and having a few good laughs.

Sobeys #2 Paiton Desangher and #17 Ashton Clark look for a loose puck.

But once they were suited up and on the ice for the warm up, all friendships were put on hold. This was going to be a game for bragging rights.  In one goal suited in Red was Ace goalie #1 Lucas Vidler and in the other supporting a yellow jersey was Ace goal #1 Logan Fraser.  Both having a strong season for their respective teams.  Just like the last time these teams met, the Sobeys Lightning jumped out to the early shots on goal advantage and before the first period was half over Postma forward #6 Ryelly Hill took exception and was tagged for tripping at the 5:14 mark.  Postma was on the verge of killing the penalty off when “Tic-Tac-Goal!”  Sobeys #2 Paiton Desangher scored at the 3:52 mark with assists from #17 Ashton Clark and #16 Shane Brown.   Then, as if evening the score Sobeys forward #4 Camden Blackburn gets called for excessive body contact and before the ink was dry Postma forward #6 Ryelly Hill collects a sweet rebound and dumps it into the open net tying the game at 1. Moving into the second period Sobeys #2  Paiton Desangher gets his name added to the game sheet once more. Only this time it was for hooking at 4:23.  Then,  30 seconds later Postma would score on the power play with a goal from #7 Sam Knowler assisted by #10 Dennis Warwick and #5 Everett Pickering. Postma Lightning added another at 1:45 from #16 Jacob Hamilton assisted by #14 Lukin Paiement to take a commanding 3-1 lead into the third.  The teams managed to play more the 5 minutes of hockey before Sobeys Lightning defenseman #7 Drew Rumble was called for tripping. It looked like Postma was going to put the game away when Sobeys #3 Vincent Vaughan took control of the puck in his own end and weaved his way up ice were he found #4 Camden Blackburn who chipped the puck in for a shorthanded goal at 13:47. Two minutes later Sobey’s #2  Paiton Desangher gets his name added to the score sheet again with a goal assisted by #17 Ashton Clark.
Are you doing the math?

When I thought all the rough stuff  had stopped Postma’s #9 Brayden Howe gets called for tripping at 5:07 but this time the results are different. The Postma Lightning were 25 seconds from killing off the penalty when Sobeys Lightning #2 Paiton Desangher was a little to aggressive on the fore check and was called for crosschecking.  And then to add insult to injury Paiton fired the puck resulting in an unsportsmanlike penalty. Postma never waiting long before #15 Max Gourley scored the go-a-head goal at 2:42 with #7 Sam Knowler getting the assist. Just when you thought the game was in the books Postma’s #4 Cooper Minnie got in on the action with a tripping call with .42 seconds remaining.
It’s still not over folks!

.17 seconds remained, Both teams with a man in the box.  Sobeys Lightning pressing to tie it. And ……
Sobeys #3 Vincant Vaughan scores the tying goal with #8 Brady Pook and #16 Shane Brown assisting.

Okay, You can breathe now.

Final score: Sobeys Lightning 4,  Postma Lightning 4.
Shots on goal:  Sobeys 16, Postma 10
Player of the game:  Sobeys: Vincent Vaughan,   Postma: Max Gourley & Ryelly Hill
