Back To Back Attack
Today I wondered if they could pull it off?  The Sobeys Lightning barely had time to rest having dominated the game Saturday against the Dresden Whites and now just one day later faced a rematch with the Mooretown Black.

#11 Carter Gates and #17 Ashton Clark are relentless against Mooretown's #8 Barrett Glover.

Just last week the Mooretown Black team where in town and came within inches of pulling off an upset. This time the Lightning where on Mooretown turf.
Right from the beginning tension was running high. Down a player with #9 Owen Brown not making the trip and having several players arriving late. Coach Chris Fraser pulls the team together for last minute instructions just before stepping onto the ice.
34 seconds into the game #17 Ashton Clark pushes the puck ahead to #2 Paiton Desangher and he rockets over the blue line and fires a bullet off Mooretown’s goalies pads. The rebound goes right out to the waiting stick of #3 Vincent Vaughn who then fires it into the open net.  You could feel the pressure drop off both the Lightning team and the crowd of parents and friends in the stands behind the team.  But that was short lived as Mooretown’s #8 Barrett Glover tied the game at the 5:40 mark and then adds another before the period is over leaving the Lightning down 2-1 after period 1.
With 1:30 off the clock in the second period # 4 Camden Blackburn gets his first of two goals in the game tying it up 2-2.  It was all Lightning in the second. The back checking by forwards #14 Danny Betterly, Danielle Leque, and Carter Gates was relentless. By the time the second was over the Lightning had three unanswered goals from #16 Shane Brown, #8 Brady Pook, and #3 Vincent Vaughn and assists by 17 Ashton Clark, #16 Shane Brown and #5 Josh Flemington.  The Lightning continued to pressure in the third by opening the scoring at 12:53 with an unassisted goal from #2 Paiton Desangher.  The play was up and down the ice throughout the third and goaltender #1 Logan Fraser made numerous outstanding saves keeping the Lightning team on top.

Final Score:  Sobeys Lightning 7 – Mooretown Blacks 4
