After allowing nine goals against in last Saturdays game
against the Mooretown Blacks the shutdown defensive pairing of Shane and Owen
Brown (not related) lead a great defensive effort of the entire team that gave
up a measly 2 goals.

Sobey's Lightning goaltender #1 Logan Fraser carried a shutout into the second period before allowing a goal to # 7 Andrew Rosma of the Dresden Whites. But by then Paiton Desangher, Vincent Vaughn, Brady Pook, Colin Day and Shane Brown had potted a goal or two each that gave the team a 6–0 lead.
In the third period the Lightning were forced to play shorthanded for 4 Minutes as #10 Colin Day was charged with tripping at 1:09 and Body checking at 8:59. However, you cannot successfully prevent goals if you don’t have good defensive play and that play came from the hard work of # 7 Drew Rumble, #12 Danielle Leque, and #14 Danny Betterly. It wasn’t till after the Lightning had extended their lead to 11-1 from goals by #11 Carter Gates and #17 Ashton Clarke that # 7 Andrew Rosma of Dresden scored his second goal of the game at 13:27. When this team plays strong defensively and passes the puck offensively there is no stopping it.
