Atom Home Run Win one and Drop one in Busy weekend Games
Submitted By smcclenaghan on Sunday, March 8, 2015
The Atom Home Run team continued playoff hockey with a 4-1 win Friday night against the Southkent Sobey's Atoms but dropped their first playoff game Saturday 4-1 against the West Lorne Comets.

Friday night the Home run team was ready as Brennen Dodman started the scoring 2 minutes into the game, assisted by James Larsh.  The Sobey's team responded 2 minutes later to tie the game at 1.  Scoring for Sobey's was Turner Lessard, assisted by Ty Oliphant and Conner Lackie.  This was as close as the Sobey's team would get as Ethan McClenaghan scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first, assisted by Katelyn DeBrouwer.
The Atom Home run would increase the lead late in the second on a goal from Josh Wolf, assisted by Ethan and Trent Smith.  Finishing off the scoring early in the third was Dylan DeBrouwer, Dylan found the back of the net off a great shot from deep in the corner, sealing the 4-1 win.  Evan White earned the win and Daniel Rodger took the loss.
Saturday the Southkent Home Run team welcomed the West Lorne Comets, a team that is close to them in the standings.  A win by the Home Run team would all but wrap up first place, but West Lorne had other ideas.
Southkent got on the board first late in the first period from a goal from Ethan McClenaghan, Ethan made a great rush end to end, assisting on the goal was Alex Falkiner and Katelyn DeBrouwer.  Unfortunately this lead would not hold up as West Lorne continued to pressure and score.  West Lorne took a 3-1 lead late into the third and iced the 4-1 win with an empty net goal with 2 seconds left.
Stay posted to this website to see how this tight battle ends up, good luck kids!!
