Atom Home Run play well in Wallaceburg Tournament
The Atom Home Run Restaurant played three games Saturday in the Frank Dymcok Classic Tournament. The kids and parents braved the weather, tolerated the long day and were rewarded with three great games from the kids.
The first game was against Newmarket at 8 am. The kids were slow starters as they had 4 goals scored against them in the first. Once they got moving, the game was a close one but Southkent ended up loosing 6-1. Scoring the lone goal was Brennen Dodman.
The second game was a much closer contest against the Chatham Black team. The teams played even hockey for most of the game but Chatham took the win 4-3. Southkent scored with less than 1 minute to play with their goalie pulled. The Home Run team continued to pressure but couldn't score the tying goal. Scoring for Southkent was Brennen, Dylan DeBrouwer and Trent Smith, collecting assists was Josh Wolf (2), Dylan, Laurel Johnston and Ethan McClenaghan.
The third game of the day was Southkents best effort of the tourney and of the year as they played a team from Thorold. All kids were playing great and all three lines had lots of chances. Southkent played well defensively all game, limiting the chances on Evan White. If not for a few missed chances, unlucky bounces, the final result would have been different than the 2-0 loss.
All kids should be proud of their efforts all day, keep up this play as we continue Tri-County playoffs next weekend.
