Strong Effort Brings Favourable Results
Over the past two weeks, the U18 South Kent Lightning team, sponsored by Taco Bell, won two games and lost one putting them in the top half of the standings for the "C" division.  Out of 13 teams, the Lightning sits at 6th place.

On Saturday, November 12th, Lightning struck in Dresden beating the Jr. Kings 3-0 with the shutout going to goaltender James Larsh.  They blanked the first period but put two on the board in the second and one in the 3rd period.  With just over five minutes remaining in the second period, Cam Wellington opened up the scoring, unassisted. Less than two minutes later, Carson May followed suit with the help of Trent DeCook and Wellington.  In the third period, Carson got his second goal, again with Cam's assistance.

Monday, November 14th's home game in Blenheim also proved exciting for home team fans as the Lightning won 2-1 against the Lambton Shores Predators.  In the first period, Cory Beecroft put his first one away at the 11-minute mark, unassisted.  From the starting faceoff in the second period, he once again found the netting to put South Kent up 2-0.  Lambton Shores scored their first and only goal on Daniel Rodger at the 6-minute mark but it wasn't enough to douse the Lightning's 2-1 win.

Their latest game, Saturday, November 19th, was stormy against the Lucan Irish as the Irish were on fire.  Less than five minutes into the game, the Irish were on the scoreboard.  In the second period, they managed to put two more away.  It was a fast-paced game with few opportunities for the Lightning to shine.  Lucan moved into first place in the standings.

A busy week ahead has South Kent travelling to Strathroy to face the Jr. Rockets then onto Alvinston for a game with the East Lambton Eagles rounding out the week with a home game in Blenheim on Sunday against the Wallaceburg Lakers.
