Lightning sent flags flying
South Kent Lightning U18 Rep team, sponsored by Taco Bell, took the Mooretown Flags by storm Friday night, Nov 5th.
The first period was fast paced and both teams were anxious to get on the board. At the 7-minute mark, Kolby Caughy started the scoring with Cory Beecroft assisting. A minute later, Beecroft scored an unassisted goal. Then with less than 3 minutes left in the period, Beecroft came back with another zinger, assisted by Mack Anderson and Brady Cowell to bring the first period to a 3-0 lead for the Lightning.
Second period was uneventful as neither team seemed to find the netting but the third was a different story. Beecroft started the scoring 9 seconds into the period carrying one up from the faceoff, unassisted. Halfway through the period, Quinn Pickering added another goal, assisted by Anderson & Beecroft. Next Carson May won the draw at the hashmark and passed it back to Jamie Pynenbrouck who slapped one in between the goalie's pads. Finally with only 41 seconds left in the game, Cam Wellington saw the opening for another goal and skated it in, assisted by Beecroft and Anderson. Final score of 7-0 adds a shut out to goaltender Daniel Rodger's record.
The rep team's record now stands at 3-2-2. The team now has a week to rest before their next game against Dresden Jr. Kings is on Saturday, November 12th followed by Lambton Shores Predators on Monday November 14th.
