Lightning Strikes Twice as the Regular Season Opens for the U18s
South Kent Lightning U18 team, sponsored by Taco Bell, are starting off their season on a good note.

Up until now, their games have been exhibition but Monday, October 10th they faced St. Thomas Jr. Stars for their first season game and shut out the stars with a 7-0 win.  Daniel Rodger earned his first shut out for the year, and Cory Beecroft offered up a hat trick as high scorer for the Lightning, one of the goals was unassisted. The other four goals were scored by defensemen Cam Wellington & Trent DeCook and forwards Carter (Taco) Gates and Quinn Pickering.  Those others earning assists include Kolby Caughy (2), Anthony Franz (AP) (2), Mack Anderson (2), Robert Cummings, James Mifflin, Ethan Gagnier and Jamie Pynenbrouck.
On Saturday, October 15th, the team travelled to Mt. Brydges to face the Mt. Brydges Cougars for an exciting, aggressive game with a favourable 2-1 win.  This proved to be an exceptionally fast game with lots of activity to keep the goalies in the game.  SK Lightning struck early in the first period, only 82 seconds into the game, Quinn Pickering fired one in to put South Kent on the board, assisted by DeCook and Beecroft.  The remainder of the first period brought out some agressive play but that seemed to settle down during the second period when the Cougars snared one early on, answered only 2 minutes later by Wellington, assisted by Brett Davidson and Gates.
Upcoming games: Mon, Oct 17 vs Ilderton Jets at home; Wed, Oct 19 travel to South Huron Sabres.
