Saturday Nov 3rd
the Kimberly Hearing Lightning played host to the Mooretown Blacks and it was
the coaching staff that had to work harder then the players.
It was apparent early on that Mooretown was heavily over matched by the lightning player speed as the shots on goal were 10-1 and the score 3-0 at the end of the first period. It was the quick thinking of Coach Lonnie Hamilton and his hard working staff that prevented this game from getting way out of hand. The coaches went to work mixing up the lines by putting the defensemen as forwards and the forwards as defensemen. And when that began to produce more goals Coach Lonnie laid the five pass rule on his players. This meant that the puck had to be passed five times before someone was allowed to shoot at the net. Then as the Lightning goals were still tallying up Coach Lonnie told his players “If you have a goal already, You’re not allowed to score.” By the time the game was over, every player on the Lightning team had at least two points and no one knows what the final shots on goal were. Except that Lightning goalie #1 Lucas Vidler had three shots against. The final score was Lightning 12 – Mooretown 1
I almost made my player of the game choice as Coach Lonnie Hamilton. Then as I was writing this article it became very apparent that the Player Of The Game was Indeed Mooretowns goalie # 1 Nathan Sylvester for a fantastic performance in a losing cause.
