SLOW START TO AN INTENSE GAME
Saturday Oct 20th , A Pivotal date, A date with the League leading West Lorne
Comets, An opportunity to gauge our team
against one of the best.
West Lorne came into Blenheim with a 3 - 1 record and leading the league with 6 points. The Kimberly Hearing Lightning with 4 points. The Comets showed us early why they are having a good start to the season as #8 Hayden Good opened the scoring 43 seconds into the game and then #7 Cameron Tobias added a second with 2:49 remaining. However before the first had finished, Lightning forward #7 Sam Knowler spotted #8 Brady Pook all alone in the slot and made an exceptional stick to stick pass that Pook deposited into a wide open net. Early in the second period the Lightning took an excessive body contact penalty when # 8 Brady Pook leaned on a West Lorne forward while defending against a Comets attack . The Lightning Defense held up through the 2 minute penalty and with the momentum now in their favor scored when # 9 Brayden Howe took a sweet feed from #3 Joseph Stoner to knot the game at 2. The game remained tied until Lightning forward #17 Eric Romano scored unassisted at 10:04 of the third. But less then two minutes later Comet forward Logan Corneil tied the game tucking in a short side rebound from linemate Cameron Tobias. With tension building and the clock ticking down Lightning forward Joseph Stoner once again set up Brayden Howe for his second goal of the game. The Kimberly Hearing Lightning finished the game shutting down the Comets and taking a 4-3 win into the books.
