Fun Tourney over the Holidays
Missing a few regulars from the lineup the boys would battle hard over the 2 day tourney.

Game one on Sunday saw Devin and the Boys take on the Oilers from Petrolia. Daniel Rodger would keep the team in the game with Coach Kalp pulling the goalie in the final 90 seconds. After burying 2 empty netters the final score was 4-1 Petrolia. After an Hour of rest and travel to the other arena Davies and the Boys would play a solid three period game against the Mooretown Flags. Cooper Minnie would become a winger and what a game he had as Kalp and him would setup Tinline for the winner. Prior to that Hamilton would score his 1st of the game with assists going to Conner and Trenton. Hamilton's second goal of the game would be assisted by Osborne and Barnes. The team would rank tied for 3rd overall, after calculating the Goals for vs Goals against the team would have a Monday game against the Petrolia Oilers with the winner advancing on.

Sipple and the Boys would lace their skates in hopes of winning like they did all season (2-0) against the Oilers. From the drop of the puck we knew it was going to be a hard fought battle. The boys would go end to end for the first 6 minutes before Petrolia would strike their 1st of the game. With 20 seconds left in the 1st period Barnes would scramble the draw to Minnie, he would take a shot on net and Jacob Hamilton would bury his 3rd goal in as many games to tie the score with only 12.5 seconds left in the first. Coach Barnes would put Osborne, Devin and Kalp out to grind out the final shift of the period tied 1-1. With the trio starting the second they would get the puck down deep into Petrolia end, and again the team would battle hard. Defence trio of Liam Davies, Trenton DeCook and Conner Lackie logged a lot of tough minutes and made a lot of key defensive plays in the second period. Petrolia would lead after a late goal in the second 2-1 heading into the 3rd period. The boys would score a few minutes into the 3rd when Kalp and Hamilton would work the puck down low and hit Tinline who ruffled the twine to tie the game at 2's. 54 seconds later Petrolia would split our defense and throw a hard shot on net, Daniel "Worker of The Game" Rodger would make a huge stick save, the puck would deflect off his stick and hit the cross bar and just cross the goal line. The team wouldn't quit, they skated full strides both sides of the puck, all 11 skaters working as a team in front of their keeper. With Petrolia taking a minor penalty with only 42.5 seconds left the Lightning would call their time out and regroup for the final puck drop. They would win the faceoff and Coach Davies would pull the tender to get the 6 on 4 in Petrolia zone, Jackson would fire a wrist shot that would hit the far post and bounce into the corner, for the final 5 seconds there was a mad scramble in front of the tender as the horn sounded with Petrolia advancing. I have never been so proud of a group of athletes as they battled hard and have a true understanding of what a team is. Hold your head high boys, because you all played like champions today.
