The Ridgetown Rally!
Team 1 was challenged with playing the 2nd place Dresden Jr. Kings right after being beaten like a rented mule by Wallaceburg 2.

We welcomed back Robert who was the Swiss army knife on this night, playing every position on the ice effectively even goaltender once or twice. He was able to tie the game up for us less than 2 minutes after the Kings scored their first. The Kings would put 2 more behind Brady before JP arrived to the bench. Pyner would score his first goal of the game with 6:48 to go in period 2. Unfortunately Dresden answered before the end of the 2nd to carry a 4-2 lead into the 3rd. Dresden looked to put the nail in the coffin 45 seconds into the 3rd to take a 5-2 lead. Then Jamie approached the center faceoff dot with other plans for his team. The puck was dropped, Jamie took the puck straight to the net and went roof daddy. In case anyone missed it he provided an exact replay with the puck drop after that goal. JP would tie the game up on the next puck drop, giving him a hat trick in exactly 59 seconds of play. Dresden would retake the lead with just under 5 to go, but Jamie would have none of it and tied it back up shortly thereafter. Then gave his team their first lead with 2 minutes to go in the game. 2 Minutes that seemed like hours, and to add a little extra challenge we killed the last 43 seconds of the game short-handed. Dresden threw everything they had at us and all 5 players (including Brady D) on the ice found a way to battle through and preserve the win. Assists tonight went to Alex and Colin with 2 each and Ricky and Pooker with 1 each.

Obviously the score sheet makes this look like it was all JP that made this win happen, but playing a team like Dresden demands our whole team play hard defensively, I think our wingers did a much better job of staying in position and helping to make plays. Notably Parker and Alex continue to be incredibly dependable. Isaac and Pooker have shown that they have the ability to fill in admirably on the back end. Miff was his regular self as our leader on defence, Josh plays like a guy twice his size back there, Ricky and Carter won a ton of puck battles and Colin did an outstanding job of providing pressure and covering for the defence every time it was needed. Brady D stoned Dresden a bunch of times and Zach did a fine job of leading our dressing room cheer, I expect he will be back in the line up for the tournament.

The Golden Jersey went to Jamie Pynenbrouck tonight for finding the back of the net 6 times (3 of which were done in under one minute of play) he did all of this while dealing with some rough stuff on the ice. Our next game is on Dec 27 at 1pm in Ridgetown vs the Mitchell Meteors in the Mark Woodley/Len Hoskins Memorial Tournament. Until then…

Merry Christmas!
