Update for Parents - January 2026
Hello U7 Parents,

We would like to take a moment to give some updates and answers to questions that have been cirulating regarding travel games, tournaments and weekly practices.

Firstly, we would like to say congratulations to our U7 players for their first tournament/jamboree of the year. It was a great turn out and thank you to the parents and everyone involved; with a huge shout out to the coaches/parents that stepped up and offered to help with the benches and all that entails with training.

Secondly, we understand there is some confusion/questions surrounding the game and practice on Jan 10, 2026. I would like to clear this up so everyone is on the same page. There was a request over the holidays for our U7 group to share ice with the Bothwell U7 bullets for a fun scrimmage on January 10, 2026. This was a fast moving and last minute coordination effort by the Southkent Team to secure travel permits and approval for our group to participate (Jan 7, 2026). The decision by the coaches was to offer spots firstly to the players that didnt not attend the tournament in December. Unfortunately, our group consists of 47-50 players, most centres have around 20-25 players, this means we cannot have our full group participate every opportunity. Once the the rosters spots were filled by players that did not attend as noted above, this left 8-10 spots available for 30+ players. The roster was confirmed and parents of those players were informed between Wednesday Jan, 7 and Friday Jan 9, 2026.  We understand there was questions raised and concerns brought forward regarding communication and lack there of, this was in no way meant to be malicious or undermining, the situation was fast moving and chaotic at times.

Moving forward, we are going to utilize the website for U7 updates and dates to look forward too. There is more travel games and fun opportunites ahead for the U7 group this season.

We are currently working on the following:

Travel Games:
2-3 more dates before the end of season. Dates to be confirmed

Intermission Games:
Ridgetown Royals has offered the opportunity for the children to play a fun scrimmage during an intermission of a home Royals Game. (we are still working out some details)
Dates: February 21 and February 28 (teams will be split into their designated colors for this, with 2 teams attending 1 date and others on the 2nd date)
Simcoe Tournament: Mar 27-29
Roster size is limited and coaches have begun the roster selection as these need to be submitted by a deadline.

We will continue to post updates regarding travel games and opporunities as the information is provided.

If there is any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to the myself or Curtis at practice.

Regards,
Coach Chris
