Game 1 of the Back to Back On Saturday January 16th
With a 1pm puck drop against the West Lorne Comets, McIntyre's SouthKent LL3 Atom team prepared to played one heck of a solid home game in front of a near capacity crowd.

For the first time since the last time the team had a full squad, Daniel Rodger would play his best game of the season as he kept the team in the game. Conner Lackie and Jack Tinline manned the blue line and rushed the puck up every opportunity they could to help put pressure on the Comets forwards. Wingers Aidan Osborne and Devin Lackie played another solid two way game using their frames to grind the puck out of the defensive zone. When wingers Carsen Sipple and Jacob Hamilton were on the ice the puck never left the zone, they would cycle the puck down low and create a lot of havoc in West Lorne's zone. Aidan Barnes and Trenton DeCook used their speed and skill to deke their way through the neutral zone and getting a lot of shots on the tender. Cooper Minnie and Liam Davies were reunited on D and played like one, as they controlled the puck and jumped into the rush at the right time and battled hard at our blue line to minimize entry. Jackson Kalp and Eric Romano manned the center of the ice and played decent solid 2 way hockey, often becoming a 3rd d-man with their hard back checking. With only 31 seconds left in the 2nd period Liam would take a pass from Hamilton and go end to end scoring on a nice back handed shot to put the team up 1-0. Early in the 3rd #5 would take a 2 minute minor for tripping. The boys were changing quickly during the 3rd to make sure they had enough gas in the tank for the 2nd game following right after the scrape. West Lorne would score about 2 minutes after the penalty expired. #8 would take a Body Contact penalty while working the puck along the boards and the crew would once again kill the penalty. We would improve from the previous 7-4 loss with a nice little confidence builder of a 1-1 tie. Carter Barnes would play in this game but a collision near centre ice would pull him from both games this day. Coaching staff are hoping to have their sniper back for Sundays final game of the regular season against the visiting Dresden Jr. Kings
