Hard Work Pays off with the W in Petrolia
The Atom 3 team travelled to Petrolia in search of their 2nd victory of the season.
Aidan Barnes hard work down low would pay off as he and Romano would cycle the puck before Daniel Rodgers would throw a wrist shot through a screened goalie putting the teams tied @ 1's. At the end of the first period the score would be 2-1 Petrolia. Eric "Worker of The Game" Romano would score on a beauty passing play from Daniel Rodgers to tie the game at 2's. When Carsen Sipple was pulled down on a breakaway the Lightning would go to the power play. Jack Tinline would score off of the faceoff putting the team up 3-2. Petrolia would battle back to take a 4-3 lead before Eric Romano would find Jack Tinline alone in the slot to tie the game at 4's. Early in the 3rd period Ashton Clark and the boy's would trail 5-4 before the team would buckle down and play like a team. Aidan Osborne and Devin Lackie would become a fixture in the slot as they had a lot of hard shots at the tender. Conner Lackie would serve passes on a platter as Trenton DeCook would blast the shot from the point, Jacob Hamilton and Cooper Minnie had another solid game with the latter throwing passes up the boards where Hamilton would storm through the Oilers defence creating a lot of buzz around the tender. Carter Barnes would tally his first of the season as he took a pass from Rodgers in the slot and buried it bar down on the Masked man from Petrolia. Liam Davies played his best defensive game of the year as he stick checked hard and helped minimize the odd man rushes. With less than 5 minutes in the 3rd period, 4 Oilers would be all alone in our zone and thats when we won the game, Jackson Kalp would make 3 big saves with in a few seconds as Daniel Rodgers would pick the puck up in the corner and go end to end snipping a gino and putting the team up 6-5.
