Novice Rep records first shutout
The Novice Rep Lightning recorded a 2-0 shutout versus the Southwest Bullets on Saturday afternoon in Blenheim.

The Lightning got on the board early with Paiton Desangher lighting the lamp just 1 minute after the opening faceoff assisted by Ali Altiman. The Bullets nearly tied the game at 1 partway through the period, but goaltender Griffyn Taylor made a huge save coming across his crease to deny the scoring opportunity. The Lightning defence was steady all game giving few shot attempts to the opposition. Cohen Kirkwood had a great end to end rush in the second period just missing the top corner as the Southwest goaltender got a piece of the shot with his glove hand. Taylor was replaced in the net by Russell Vaughan at the half game point and Vaughan continued the fine play of the goaltenders denying a breakaway in the third period to keep the lead intact. Ali Altiman scored an unassisted insurance goal with 5 minutes left in the third. Wesley Mifflin, Darric Brown, Cohen Kirwood, and Vincent Vaughan all had a terrific effort on defence, along with Lightning player of the game Brett Stonehouse who played his best game of the season.
