Playoffs Begin with 3 Points Earned
South Kent Lightning U18 Rep team, sponsored by Taco Bell, has begun their playoff round with their opening game in Dorchester on Sunday, Feb. 5th.

Less than five minutes into the game, Dorchester found an opening and took advantage but within three minutes, Braydon Segeren stole the puck and tied it up.  Second period, reversed, as James Mifflin went for the pass but didn't find any players open, so he skated it in.  The breakaway proved successful as Miff scored the go-ahead goal.  Not to be outdone, Dorchester answered that with another to tie the game.  Unfortunately, neither team could break the tie and each were awarded one point.

Monday, Feb 6th, home game facing Dorchester proved to be a different game altogether.  First and second period were controlled by the Lightning with Quinn Pickering firing one past the goalie five minutes into the period, assisted by Carson May.  Five minutes later, Braydon Segeren set up Jamie Pynenbrouck for a one timer to put them ahead.  Ending the period with only 51 seconds left, Sam Knowler barely missed the net, but Ethan Gagnier was able to make the rebound count on the board ending the first period 3-0 for South Kent.

In the second, Cory Beecroft passed one over to Cam Wellington.  With no open men, Cam took the shot himself and put it between the goalie's pads. The third period was unlike the other two.  With five men on three, Dorchester found their opportunity to rob James Larsh of his shut out.  They were able to find the netting once more before the final 4-2 victory was awarded to South Kent Lightning.

The Lightning's playoff round is stalled until Mon, Feb 20th when they face Strathroy Jr. Rockets, followed by back-to-back games with the division leader East Lambton Eagles.
