Winning Weekend for SM Freight Bantam LL2s
Our weekend started off with a 6-1 win in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd in Blenheim against the visiting Mooretown Jr Flags 1 team.

Cheered on by injured player Grayson Anderson, the boys started the night off by scoring towards the end of the first period with a rush on the net by Ryley Cammaert with an assist by Jackson Kalp.  The awesome passing continued with the boys helping move the puck down the ice and Kalp accepting a strategic pass from Carson Sipple to score a second time with 4:53 left in the first.  Play continued with strong teamwork by the boys and great defence by our defence lines and our goalie Isaac Johnson. With 39 seconds left in the first, the strong line of Cammaert and Kalp added another goal to the Lightning side of the scoreboard.  Mooretown would then be the only team to get a goal in the second period as our boys tried shot after shot on a strong Mooretown goalie who made a number of terrific saves earning the respect of the hometown players and crowd.  After the flood, our hometown boys came on strong with Cammaert scoring unassisted at 10:18 of the third period.  Then at 9:29, the line of Eric Romano, Carson Sipple and Drew Zapotchny made it past the Mooretown goalie and scored the fifth goal of the night.  Then, much to the delight of the hometown crowd and honourary coach Anderson, Jacob Hamilton made a rush towards the Mooretown net with 2:33 left of the third period and scored unassisted.

Our boys then travelled to Wallaceburg to take on the tough Wallaceburg Laker Bantam LL team.  Again, the boys had a strong passing game and came home with a 4-2 win.  They also had to face another strong goalie who blocked a lot of shots by our boys and both goalies kept the game scoreless during the first period.  Our boys got things going in the second period with a run at Wallaceburg’s net by Jackson Kalp and a nice deke past the goalie to put us on the board with our first goal of the game.  The boys would continue their rushes on the net with Ryley Cammaert assisted by Joseph Stoner and Connor Lackie finally getting through the Wallaceburg goalie and scoring the second point of the game.  Cammaert would then get another goal unassisted towards the end of the second period.  Wallaceburg came on strong in the third period scoring twice and threatening our win.  But our boys would push back against this offence by Wallaceburg and Eric Romano took advantage of a great pass and went towards the Wallaceburg net to score the final goal of the game and secure our win.

Two games that were very exciting to watch and very fun to play.  Keep up the good work boys!
