4-2 Win against Mooretown Jr Flags ends a big weekend for SM Freight South Kent Lightning Bantam LL2
SM Freight South Kent Lightning Bantam LL2 welcomed the Mooretown Jr
Flags to the home barn on Sunday night and fans were treated to a well-fought
game with lots of shots on both nets and lots of action on both sides of the
rink.
South Kent started the match off with a goal at 9:14 in the first period scored by Eric Romano. The boys continued their pressure on the Mooretown goalie and scored again in the first period with a shot on net by Ryley Cammaert assisted by Johnny Beckett and Joe Stoner. Second period saw the Jr Flags shoot one past goaltender Isaac Johnston bringing the score to 2-1. Jacob Hamilton returned the puck back to Mooretown’s end and put in a nice shot with the help from Jackson Kalp and Grayson Anderson to move the team ahead by two. Kalp would make another beautiful assist when he followed Eric Romano to Mooretown’s net and helped fire another one into Mooretown’s net moving the team ahead by three. Despite a superb effort by Johnston in trying to cover the whole net with a Mooretown rally on the net, Mooretown would find a hole and score another goal towards the end of the second period. Due to the awesomeness of our defence team of Carsen Sipple, Jacob Hamilton, Connor Lackie and Dennis Warwick, the boys would hold their 4-2 lead for the next 15 minutes to end the weekend with another win.
Next game will be at 10 am in Strathroy for the John Henry Memorial Tournament when we start our run against the Dorcester Dragons. Let’s go Lightning!
