Strong Team Passing Sends the team home with a 8-1 win against Petrolia Oilers
The SM Freight Bantam LL2 team and fans travelled to Greenwood Arena tonight
to play against the Petrolia Oilers.
Graysen Anderson assisted by Johnny Beckett moved in on the net in early fashion and scored the first goal of the game. Our boys continued their strong passing game and kept the action in Petrolia’s end with our four defencemen making sure that the puck didn’t leave Petrolia’s end. With 10 seconds left in the first period, Burke Couture moved in on the net assisted by Eric Romano and shot the puck into Petrolia’s net. Second period opened up with a goal by Johnny Beckett with double assists by Jackson Kalp and Jacob Hamilton setting our boys up with a 3-0 game. Then with a wild scrum on our net and a rare slip past dynamic goalie Isaac Johnston, Petrolia scored. The boys would not let that get into their head and used some of their plays that they’ve practiced to score again twice more to end the second period. Defenceman Carsen Sipple would give assists in both goals to help his forwards Drew Zapotochny and Eric Romano get to the net. The boys would still make strong plays in the third period and score three more times on the Oilers. Defenceman Jacob Hamilton would score his first of the season with an assist by Ryley Cammaert. Weaving in and around Oiler players, Eric Romano would score again with an assist by defenceman Connor Lackie. Then with twenty seconds left in the game, Ryley Cammaert rushed the net assisted by defenceman Dennis Warwick and scored Lightning’s eighth goal of the game sending happy fans home with the win. The boys see action at home tomorrow night against the Mooretown Junior Flags 2 team. Everybody remember your bells!!
