First Puck Drop of the Season
Lots of strategic passing and dynamic shooting led to Bantam LL2's first win of the season!

The SM Freight Bantam LL2 travelled to Mooretown to take on the Mooretown Jr. Flags on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in an action-packed game which saw a 5-3 victory for our Lightning team.  The boys worked well together with lots of support from the bench and the crowd during their first regular season game.  The boys got off to a rough start and after the start of the second period were down two goals but then with a power surge by the forwards line of #9 Eric Romano, #14 Nate Jeromel and #11 Burke Couture, Romano shot the puck into Mooretown's net for the first of four goals at the ten minute mark of the second period with a brilliant assist by Jeromel.  This was soon followed up by another shot on net led by #12 Graysen Anderson and assisted by #15 Jonathan Beckett which tied the game with Mooretown 2-2.  With the last seconds of the period counting down and to the delight of the Lightning parents, Romano scored again assisted by #5 Conner Lackie moving ahead of the home team.  The team came back from the flood of the ice with a lone shot on net by Romano to earn #9 his first hat trick of the season and move the team ahead by 2 over the home team.  The team would see a lot of work by their defence pairings of #2 Carsen Sipple, #5 Connor Lackie, #10 Dennis Warwick and #16 Jacob Hamilton and premiere goalie #35 Isaac Johnston to ward off a strong attack in the 3rd by Mooretown.  Our powerful forwards of #3 Drew Zapotochny, #8 Jackson Kalp, #17 Ryley Cammaert and #18 Joseph Stoner kept up the pressure in the 3rd period and this helped Romano with an assist by Warwick to score the fifth goal of the game.  Mooretown did answer back with a goal of their own in the last minute of the period but it would not be enough and our boys won their first game 5-3 to the delight of the Lightning coaching staff and parents.

The team next sees action on home ice tonight at 6:10 pm against a visiting Southwest Bullets team.  Let's get those hockey bells ringing again today!
