I
would like to take this opportunity to share a few thoughts before tryouts
begin.
As most of you know, there is a large group of players competing for a limited number of positions. I would ask that parents make sure that your child is fully prepared to compete at the highest level.
With only two practices and one exhibition game scheduled to select this year’s team, decisions will be made as efficiently as possible. After the Sunday morning try-out, I will be posting a list of players that I would like to see return for the second tryout on Monday evening. On Tuesday, I will be posting a list of players that will be playing in the exhibition game on Wednesday night in Blenheim. This list will also include players who will not be playing in the game and will have an asterisk beside their name.
You should be aware that I have asked numerous non-stakeholders to be a part of the evaluation process. I have chosen a group of individuals that possess excellent hockey knowledge and will combine their input with mine regarding team selection.
Finally, during the tryout process the evaluation team and I will be looking for those individuals who are competitive, display leadership and sportsmanship, demonstrate advanced hockey knowledge and understanding, are coachable and have an eagerness to learn.
