PeeWee LL1: Downed by Dresden
Kimberley’s boys in blue returned to the home barn to complete the back end of a home and home against the powerful Dresden White team.

The game was incredibly tight with big chances on both ends. The boys in blue seemed to be dominating the offensive zone possession time, but just couldn’t convert on the grade A scoring chances. The game entered the 3rd deadlocked at 1 a piece, a deadlock that Dresden White would be the first to break just over 5 minutes into the 3rd. Our boys tried shift after shift to tie it up but just couldn’t get the lucky bounce. Pulling the goalie in favor of an extra attacker with just over a minute to play was futile. In fact Dresden jumped on the opportunity and added an empty netter to seal the deal. The result was a 3-1 loss and a split in the playoff season series with Dresden. The lone goal came from K-mart™ with an assist by Colin.

The pregame event, as we tend to  call it now, was mainly made up of Trainer Mike showing his excitement for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Being the avid Chinese food connoisseur that he is, has allowed him to become something of an expert on the festivities and the history of the Chinese New Year. Unfortunately the festivities were cut short when one of his Kongming lanterns (sky lanterns) accidentally set one of the toilets on fire in the dressing room. Emergency crews were able to contain the blaze and I am happy to report that fun was had by most. #YearOfTheDog

Our next game is Monday night at 8pm in Blenheim vs. The strong Dresden Maroon Team. It should be a barn burner (hopefully trainer Mike doesn’t take that too literal). Until then..

See ya at the rink,
Coach Scott
