Dresden Tournament
Wrap up from the Dresden tournament

We, the coaching staff, want to let all the players know how extremely proud we are of them.

This weekend was an incredibly difficult time for all and we asked our children to go out and play their best for Ronny. What an onerous task this was, but they handled it with courage and heart just as their dear friend Ronny would have. I don't believe we as adults could have done as well.

Although we may have lost a hockey game and more importantly a great friend and teammate, we feel our team has won in so many other ways.

These kids have won PRIDE.

Pride in knowing they have the courage to overcome adversity. Pride in knowing with hard work and team play they can accomplish great tasks.

These kids have won Empathy and Selflessness

We believe these kids were truly selfless and picked up on the sadness of Ronny's family and us as parents. These players spent the entire weekend focused on winning for Ronny. In the end, there were some tears. They wanted so badly to win for Ronny. One thing for certain, no other team carried a weight on their shoulder as our team did, and no other team would do so as well. Remarkable for young people.

These kids have won Leadership

All of our children were leaders this weekend. They showed the ability to inspire others and lead by example. They worked hard on the ice and showed compassion off of it. We saw desparate diving efforts to stop a goal and we saw compassionate hugs to dry up tears.

These kids have won Courage

It is has taken tremendous courage for our children to go out each game and play their heart out. They put themselves out on the line during a difficult time and they experienced success. This will carry with them. They will remember that they can try and they can do.

This team has learned Teamwork

On the ice, our kids relied on each other, and they experience success. But our team extends far beyond the kids on the ice. The weekend was a success because we as a team;(Jordan please excuse the possible improper use of a semi colon) players, coaches, parents, grandparents and fellow South Kent Hockey members rallied together. As a coach, I personally could not have gotten through without the parents support and children's companionship. I also could not have gotten through it with out our coaches support. Bob, Ken, Mark, Jason and Christina I truly thank you. You held strong when I often did not. Thank you all, we make a great team.

Although we have taken so much time time to focus on playing for Ronny. I want everyone to remind their children that they are just as special. We play for all of us. We are a team. We played to honour Ronny as he is no longer with us in person. He will always be with us in spirit and part of our team. WE PLAY FOR OUR TEAM!

GO BOLTS!
