Novice Rep Arthur Tournament B Champs
Novice Rep travelled to Arthur this weekend to compete in the annual Novice Tournament. The team went 2-1 capturing the B Championship.
The Lightning opened the tournament with a 5-0 victory over TCMDHA. Lucas Eberle and Rowan Verbeek combined for the shutout. Lucas VandenHengel led the attack with 2 goals. Singles went to Nolan Mallory, Brighton Anderson, and Travis DeCook. Strong defensive play from Ethan Bester, Connor Watorek, Wes Mifflin, Sawyer Ferren, and Luke Holmes contributed to the shutout victory.
Game 2 was a matchup against Hagersville with the winner advancing to play for the A championship. South Kent played well but wound up falling by a score of 4-1. AJ Kirkwood and Brayden Lackie had a strong games on forward. Nolan Mallory had the lone goal for the Lightning. The loss put South Kent in the B championship game against Shelburne.
In the final game Rowan Verbeek played strong in net allowing his team to pull out an exciting 3-2 victory to bring home the B Championship. Aiden Campbell, Brighton Anderson, and Nolan Mallory scored for the Lightning.
